M-Dot – Running Shoes [Video]
Boston workhorse M-Dot keeps pushing his “Daze Of Greed” campaign with the new visual for “Running Shoes”, one of the most replayable joints off his 2024 album.
Produced by Roccwell with razor-sharp cuts from Mista Sinista of The X-Ecutioners, the track is a tight 2:25 burst of classic boom bap – warm, nostalgic sample work, big drums and those signature scratch hooks that make the whole thing feel like a lost 12″ from the mid-90s.
Lyrically, “Running Shoes” is M-Dot in reflection mode, using the title as a metaphor for the grind. He runs through the journey from open mics to headlining shows overseas, pushing past people sleeping on him until he’s seeing his name on posters in foreign storefronts – the kind of bar work that turns tour memories into fuel.
It sits perfectly inside the LPs bigger theme of navigating a world obsessed with money and status, while still showing vulnerability and the long route it took to get here. The “Running Shoes” video was shot on location in Munich, Germany, catching M-Dot on the move while he’s out on the road – a fitting backdrop for a song about never standing still and literally running your way into new territories. There’s no forced movie plot, just tour-life perspective and performance, letting the verses, the cuts, and the atmosphere do the heavy lifting.
Hit play on “Running Shoes” below, then spin “Daze Of Greed” front to back – this cut really snaps once you hear how it fits into the rest of the album.
