M.O.P., Meeco & DJ Access – NY Goats [Audio]
German producer duo Meeco & DJ Access crank the faders all the way into the red on their new single “NY Goats” with none other than M.O.P. on mic duty.
Out now via NewDEF, the record is exactly what the title hints at: a loud, uncompromising salute to New York rap greatness from a crew that helped define it. The beat hits like a late-night subway rumble – dirty drums, grimy bass and chopped samples stitched together with razor-sharp cuts that leave plenty of air for the vocals to explode through.
M.O.P. do what M.O.P. do: that signature, chest-out delivery, barked ad-libs and the kind of hook energy that makes you want to flip a table in the best way possible. It’s the classic Brownsville chaos dropped straight into a modern boom-bap framework, all impact, no fluff.
For Meeco & DJ Access, “NY Goats” feels like the next logical step in a run that’s already paired them with a whole hall of fame: Lil Fame, Fredro Starr, Havoc, Ras Kass, Elzhi, Skyzoo, Inspectah Deck and more across projects like “We Run Shit” and a string of NewDEF singles. Their sweet spot has been rugged, SP1200-grit production with carefully picked guest lists – and landing the full M.O.P. platoon on a joint literally called “NY Goats” feels like the victory pose on that approach.
The drop is already making its presence felt: “NY GOATS” has slid onto multiple Spotify New Music Friday playlists worldwide (including Australia/NZ and Maghreb) as part of the November 28 batch, giving this underground-leaning burner a global push from day one. Between the playlist love and the pedigree on both sides of the board, it plays less like a random loosie and more like the opening scene of a bigger Meeco & DJ Access chapter that’s clearly on the way.
Bottom line: if you’ve been missing that unapologetic, shout-along New York energy over properly filthy production, “NY Goats” is essential listening. Turn it up until the neighbours complain.
