Your Old Droog feat. Count Bass D – Confetti [Audio]
Your Old Droog has been in relentless scorer’s-table form these last few years, and “Confetti” keeps the streak alive.
Linking up with Count Bass D on the mic and behind the boards, the new single is the second track off Droog’s upcoming EP “Anything Is Possible”, a five-song run dropping November 26.
“Confetti” feels like victory music for people who actually had to grind for the win. Count Bass D lays down a warm, slightly off-center groove – the kind of loop that sounds like it was dug out of a secret stash. Droog skates across it with that familiar mix of deadpan humor, flexes, and weirdly specific details that stick in your head. Rather than going full hook-heavy anthem, the record plays like a celebration mid-conversation: sharp verses, subtle swing, little pockets where Count Bass D sneaks in his own sauce to keep the beat shifting under Droog’s voice.
It’s also the latest chapter in a partnership that’s clearly heating up. Earlier this year the roles were flipped on “Caddy”, a Count Bass D single featuring Droog, and the chemistry there already hinted they weren’t done trading passes back and forth. Droog has since teased that full-length projects with both Edan and Count Bass D are on the way, so “Confetti” doubles as a teaser: if this is just one cut on a bigger board, the eventual album is going to be filthy.
“Anything Is Possible” is shaping up like a mini all-star game for underground production nerds: Khrysis, J-es (with cuts from Statik Selektah), Roper Williams and Kenny Segal round out the credits across “Game 7”, “No More”, “Vanilla Fudge” and “Bronny”, with “Confetti” parked right in the middle as the Count Bass D showcase. Coming off last year’s full-length Movie, Droog isn’t slowing down, he’s just tightening the lens – short projects, zero filler, all replay value.
Bottom line: “Confetti” is Droog and Count Bass D making the tough stuff sound effortless. If you’ve been following this run, toss it straight into rotation and get ready for the full “Anything Is Possible” drop tomorrow.
