Sonnyjim & Morriarchi – Golden Parachute [Album Stream]

Sonnyjim and Morriarchi treat retirement packages like a contact sport on their new collab album, titled “Golden Parachute”.

The UK wordsmith and the ever-inventive producer lock in for a 12-track ride that plays like luxury rap through a crooked fisheye lens – dense bars, dusty loops, sideways humor and a concept about how you choose to land when the game’s done with you. Clocking in at around 32 minutes, it’s a tight, no-filler listen that still manages to feel cinematic.

Morriarchi’s beats are all smoked glass and slow-burn groove: soul fragments, strange textures and drums that feel like they were pulled from a private stash. The title track “Golden Parachute” sets the tone straight away, while joints like “Fast Life” (with Beni Laylo), “Gone Fishin’” and “The Real Thing” (with Tay Jordan & Jay Worthy) stretch the palette from champagne-soaked flexing to dipping off the grid when the noise gets too loud. Deeper in, cuts like “A Bit Of Magic” with Capriisun, the swaggering “Scotch & Escovitch”, “More Lobster” and “Av It” with Mondo Slade keep the record in that sweet spot where rich food, rich talk and rich instrumentation all blur together.

Lyrically, Sonnyjim is in full connoisseur mode: punchlines for the heads, references that reward replay, and a tone that’s half villain, half art dealer. The late-album run – “Peace Akhi”, “New Jersey Drive” with Fly Anakin and the cinematic closer “Rosie Perez” featuring Graziella – ties the whole concept together: this isn’t about crashing out, it’s about gliding to the ground with style, legacy intact and another plate of lobster on the way. Inspired in part by Prince and wrapped in artwork and physical editions that collectors will hunt for, “Golden Parachute” doubles as both a flex and a blueprint for a soft landing in rap – stitched together under the WeBuyGold / Group BraCil banner.
