Kenny Mason – Pup Pack: 1st Shift [EP]
Kenny Mason’s “Pup Pack: 1st Shift” is a quick jolt of everything that makes him one of the most interesting voices out of Atlanta right now.
The three-track EP runs just about seven minutes, but he uses that short space to show range rather than toss out leftovers.
All three cuts hit different pockets: “Loyalty” floats over trippy, mechanical trap, “A1” rides a reflective but heavy knock, and “Burn It Up” jumps straight into his alt-rock bag with livewire energy and big, chaotic hook power. It’s that fusion of underground rap and alternative rock he’s been sharpening since Angelic Hoodrat and the first Pup Pack, now boiled down to a tight, replay-ready dose.
As the next chapter in his ongoing “Pup Pack” series and his first new release since the “Angel Eyes” tape, “Pup Pack: 1st” Shift feels less like a throwaway stopgap and more like a teaser: a compact reminder of how many lanes Kenny can occupy at once, and a hint that the next full project could get even wilder.
