FKA Twigs – Hard [Video]

With “Hard”, FKA Twigs adds one of the most striking chapters to her new album “EUSEXUA Afterglow”, a companion project to “Eusexua” that pushes even deeper into the world she’s been building all year.

The song itself sits right in that emotional tension twigs does so well—caught between desire and doubt, physical connection and whether real love is actually present. Co-produced with Mechatok, the track fuses the thump of Atlanta bass with icy, machine-like ’90s electro textures, so the beat keeps shifting under her voice the same way the ground shifts under the relationship she’s singing about.

Visually, the Jordan Hemingway–directed video turns “Hard” into a sand-swept ritual. Twigs leads a troupe of dancers across a barren landscape, the choreography by James Vu Anh Pham moving between sharp, almost militaristic formations and moments of vulnerable release. It plays like a surreal fashion film and a dance piece at once—bold silhouettes, wind, dust and bodies in motion, all orbiting around twigs as she works through the song’s turmoil. She’s hinted that making the video helped “heal” her younger dancer self, and you can feel that in how physical and committed every frame is.

As a single from “EUSEXUA Afterglow“, “Hard” captures everything that makes this phase of her career exciting: daring production, raw vulnerability and visuals that feel less like music videos and more like self-contained art films you want to live inside for a while.
