Nicholas Craven & Boldy James – Criminally Attached [Album Stream]
“Criminally Attached” is Boldy and Craven running the same formula they’ve been perfecting for years — and somehow making it feel even sharper.
The Roc Nation debut is a tight 10-track, sub-30-minute glide of drumless or barely-there drums, dusty soul loops and deadpan Detroit crime reporting.
From “Walnut Grove” and “No Blemishes” through “Infrared Dot Com” and “1st Time Around”, Craven keeps everything muted and tense while Boldy talks fraud, phone taps, gang politics and get-backs like he’s reading minutes from a meeting you shouldn’t know about. Features are minimal – a quick “Trifecta” with 50 Gwuap Taj & Dave Hill, a cameo from Poppy Bricks – and the whole record plays like another cold chapter in a run that just won’t miss.
