KAYTRANADA – Space Invader [Video]
KAYTRANADA turns a late-night house loop into a small world you want to live in.
“Space Invader” was the lead single for his August album “Ain’t No Damn Way!”, and now it’s got a sleek official video. The track flips Latrelle and Kelis’ “My Life” into an escapist chant—“gotta get away sometimes”—and lets the drums do the talking.
Straight lines, big swing. The bass pumps, hi-hats skate, and the vocal bits are chopped to feel like a mantra. It’s Kaytra in DJ-brain mode: functional for the floor, addictive in headphones. Apple Music even calls out the source—a refrain from the Neptunes-produced “My Life.”
Directed by KAYTRANADA & Daniel Yaro, the clip keeps it minimal and stylish: tight framing, strobes, and kinetic edits that match the pocket without distracting from it. Credits floating around crew posts list Yaro as creative producer (North of Now), which tracks with the clean, performance-first execution.
A pure utility banger dressed in chrome—built to loop, impossible to shake. If you needed one track to understand the album’s “dance first” promise, this is it.
