Rapsody and Madlib quietly rolled out two joint tracks in June—exclusively through Rapsody’s site. Now they’ve hit streaming.

The pair’s first-ever collab arrives as MadRaps, a two-pack featuring “Daddy’s Girl” and “Avon Thru The Wire”. Initially, the songs were only available as physicals—cassettes and 7-inch vinyl—leaving many fans waiting for a wider release. That landed on Friday.

Unsurprisingly, the music delivers. Madlib lays down warm, jazz-leaning production that would slot neatly beside “Please Don’t Cry”, while Rapsody turns in two razor-sharp performances—another reminder she’s one of the game’s most overlooked emcees.

It caps a standout 2024 for Rapsody: “Please Don’t Cry” ranks among her most personal work, earning two Grammy nods, including a win for Best Melodic Rap Performance for the Erykah Badu-assisted “3:AM”, plus a Best Rap Song nomination for “Asteroids” with Hit-Boy.
