JID – WRK [Video]
JID delivers the official music video for his “WRK” single.
The music video presents a bleak, post-apocalyptic future imagined by JID. In this world, he leads a resistance group of masked rebels fighting against figures in hazmat suits who are deliberately destroying musical equipment, possibly symbolising the suppression of Black American culture. Amidst this chaos, a makeshift museum remains, housing artifacts like J.I.D’s albums and imagery reminiscent of the American flag. As JID performs, notably with a torn flag tied around his waist, the video visually shifts between these shots and the narrative. The overall look and feel, with VHS overlays and rapid-fire edits, is typical of a powerful JID production.
