Lupe Fiasco – GHOTIING [EP]
Samurai firmly established itself as a standout release of last year, reinforcing Lupe Fiasco’s position not only as a top-tier rapper but also as a remarkably innovative and forward-thinking artist.
Contrary to expectations of a longer wait, Lupe has surprised fans today with the release of a 7-track EP titled “GHOTIING” (pronounced “FISHING,” as those familiar with “DRILL MUSIC IN ZION” will know). This EP draws inspiration from various art installations at MIT, where Lupe served as both artist in residence and professor.
This EP offers a truly unique listening experience, as it was composed and recorded on site by the sculptures themselves. Consequently, the ambient sounds, the prevailing atmosphere, and the surrounding social context profoundly shaped the lyrical content, the musical flow, and the vocal delivery. This intriguing project is best understood and enjoyed when viewed in conjunction with the sculptures. Currently, the only way to immerse yourself in this experience is here, where you can listen to the music, learn about its creation, view images of the art, and follow along with the lyrics.
