Ab-Soul releases his first single since 2022, titled “Squeeze 1st 2”.
Ab-Soul, one of Top Dawg Entertainment’s more elusive talents, has kept a low profile lately, surfacing only occasionally for collaborations with TDE artists like Zacari, Ray Vaughn, and Jay Rock. But now, he’s back with his first solo release since dropping his highly-praised “Herbert” album.
His new single, “Squeeze 1st 2”, is believed to be a fresh take on Jay-Z’s track “Squeeze 1st”. Produced by Crooklin, the song runs for four minutes and showcases Ab-Soul’s lyrical prowess. Over a laid-back, jazz-influenced beat, he drops fierce lines like: “Thou shall not f*ck with raw me, or he / Face a thousand deaths From Mr. Herbert Anthony / Steven’s IV full of potent dope / Not a Cuban cigar maker but I want all of the smoke.”
In September, Ab-Soul re-emerged with a feature on Kembe X’s “Introverted Extravert”, sparking excitement for his comeback. Now, with “Squeeze 1st 2”, it’s clear he’s back in full force.
