Kyle Rapps – Eulogy [Audio x Download]

In addition to continuing to flex his chops as a producer, Mexico City-based artist Kyle Rapps is showcasing his ability to blend filthy raps and lyrics addressing social issues on “Eulogy”. It’s the latest single off his upcoming and appropriately titled new album, “Perverse Ramblings”. Whereas preceding single “Fiction” was steeped in tales of lust with multiple women, “Eulogy” also features the New Jersey native blurring the lines between topics. Backed by his own electronic-leaning production, Rapps goes all the way in on a relationship that was filled with some of the most graphic sexual moments you can imagine. Seriously, if you can think of something even remotely nasty, it’s probably on here—even the fact that he “used to f*ck her in the water like a hippopotamus.” The only thing is, there’s also a societal weight that runs throughout the sexuality. And that’s exactly why he sing-songs the following on the all-too-catchy chorus: “This is ain’t a love song, it’s a eulogy/ For all good shi*t we had between you and me/ For all the black kings that had to die stupidly, it’s a eulogy.” You see, Rapps may be a self-proclaimed “dirtbag with a heart of gold,” but there’s another layer here. The overtly sexual nature of the track is more about the way that we screw each other—and how our greater society happens to f*ck certain people more than others. “Eulogy” is now available through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms, and can be downloaded au-gratis, courtesy

Alpha Faktion – System Shutdown [Video]

New York trio Alpha Faktion are on the run from the long arm of the law in their new video for “System Shutdown”, which is also the latest banger off their long-awaiting new project, “Creative Control”. Like the previous released Nottz-produced album-titled track, “System Shutdown” is a shining example of the talents of Alpha Faktion’s three members: emcee/producer Azwun, emcee Kraze ILLA, and DJ Enyoutee. Azwun and Kraze get top billing with their hard-nosed bars that capture the snarling Boom bap instrumental from acclaimed producer, Marco Polo. The same goes for the visuals from Phanatiks Entertainment, whose representation of the “System” is a pair of investigators trying to track down the New York trio. With the release of this video, the group is on the verge of releasing their much anticipated new album, “Creative Control”, and it’s definitely one for the purists out there. The fourteen track album boasts production from legends like Marley Marl, Nottz, DJ Skizz, and Ayatollah, along with features from Planet Asia and Mic Handz, among others. Check out the visuals, and redeem an instant-grat download of “System Shutdown” by pre-ordering your copy of “Creative Control” today via iTunes. The album, which is also available for pre-order via Amazon and Google Play for its June 2nd digital release date, can also be pre-ordered on CD exclusively via UGHH, where it becomes available in the physical form on May 19th via East Rock Entertainment.

Red Pill – Stars [Video]

REd Pill drops an animated video for “Stars” off his “Instinctive Drowning” project. Says Red Pill: “I wrote most of the lyrics for Stars while I was on tour. I was on the road with people I looked up to and I felt like I wasn’t up to par with them. Even playing smaller clubs, you get treated like a star when you’re on the road. So, I was balancing my self-consciousness with a small taste of fame, all the while being homesick. I knew that when I got back, it was back to normal life, paying bills, and day jobs. The director came up with this epic tale of a guy who battles monsters, drinks, misses home, but still wins in the end. I love the work he did with the construction paper. It’s a really cool fantasy driven video that fits the spacey vibe of the song.”
