Mr. Green feat. Blacastan – Power [Video]
The ridiculously talented Mr. Green is behind the boards and sitting in the director’s chair for his gritty new single, “Power,” off the upcoming Raw Poetix compilation, ‘Global Connection Vol. 2.’ The track also boasts some sharp visuals starring Connecticut rap bully Blacastan, who goes all the way in on this Boom bap slapper.
Backed by the neck-breaking instrumental, Blacastan drops a slew of run-it-back quotables (for example: “In the hood I’m everywhere, like images of Jesus/ Reflections of Moses movin’ in slaves’ clothing”) while commanding the camera’s attention. And Mr. Green is right on point with his direction, capturing the energy of his rapping partner’s bars before handing the footage over Shane McLellan to provide the psychedelic finishing touches.
The aforementioned international connection is brought by Denmark-based turntablist DJ FMD, who kills it on the track’s hook and outro. Fittingly, “Power” sets the tone for the compilation, which features the likes of PaceWon, Phil The Agony, Kool G. Rap, Chris Rivers, and Planet Asia.
