Paul Banks + RZA = Banks & Steelz [Video]

When artists truly ignore genre lines and reach out to each other out of pure respect, amazing things can happen. So when RZA (Wu-Tang Clan) and Paul Banks (Interpol) connected to work on a potential project, it’s no surprise that they spent hours talking about movies, music, and more at restaurants throughout the city. That organic friendship turned into studio sessions and now we’re about to hear what it sounds like when two musical giants step out of their comfort zone to simply see what they end up with.

While they were in town, we took RZA and Paul Banks to a small tequila bar in Manhattan–a spot they frequented before. They share what they admire about each other’s creative process, how their energies meshed to become the musical equivalent of a hybrid BMW, and the significance of the title of their upcoming album, “Anything But Words”. Paul Banks expertly explained the last topic with, “Using words to describe music is like using dance to describe architecture.”

“Anything But Words” will be released on August 26th. You can pre-order a copy on Apple Music.
