Tru Life Talks Life After Prison, Relationship With Future & Jay-Z + Freestyles [Video]

After being locked up for 8 years, Tru Life stopped by Sway in the Morning and showed us he’s a changed man. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time, Tru Life, which stands for “the righteous unite and everybody living in a fantasy environment”, was wrongfully convicted for a crime he didn’t commit and ended up serving 8 years in jail.

“With God, hard work, and dedication”, Tru Life was able to get two degrees while in jail and is currently working on his Masters. When Heather B asked how he didn’t go in a dark place after being released from jail, Tru Life said “spiritually you have to be inclined with your maker and never give up”. He did go in a dark place, but was able to pull out of it by the grace of God. Now being released, Tru spent a couple weeks solely with his family, but is back to his music grind. With new music featuring Rick Ross, Tru is ready to spread his mentality with the world.

So far, he’s gotten mad love from HOV, being signed to Rocafella right before getting locked up, and Future, who he knows as “Meathead”, we’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of Tru. Plus, the New York rapper spits his first freestyle since getting locked up, gives advice to the “youngins” who think they need to be gangsta and do music, assists Sway in eating his first “breakfast of champions” (cereal and champagne), and more in the interview above.
