CRWN w/ Meek Mill (Part 2 of 4) [Video]

In part two of CRWN with Meek Mill the Philly MC details his most recent incarceration for a parole violation. He explained that he was attending probation hearings and was surprised by the sentence. Judge Genese E. Brinkley found that he had failed to get her permission before booking out-of-town concerts and other violations. He served five months at a Philly jail and was released in December of 2014.

“When I first got down there n*ggas was staring at me, banging on the windows. It was a nightmare,” Meek said criticizing the culture that celebrates going to jail and countered that taking care of your family is what’s gangster. “You shackled from your ankles to your wrist, sh*t that y’all will never see on the Internet…I was in the cell for 23 hours a day [by myself].”

Meek also took the time to talk about his mom, who used to boost him his first sneakers, his relationship with his son and his collaborations with artists like Future, Kendrick Lamar and Jay Z.

“On ‘A-1 Everything’ I think Kendrick murdered me…I like his verse better than mine. I like Nicki’s verse better than mine on ‘All Eyes on You’ …but at the end of the day it’s my song and I came up with the idea. Some people gonna win sometimes…it motivates me and inspires me.”
