Kendrick Lamar Says His Next Album Is Coming “A Long Time From Now” [Video]

For the last couple of weeks, all anyone in hip-hop could seem to talk about is Kendrick Lamar’s latest album, “To Pimp A Butterfly”. As well they should, the album has been received with universal critical acclaim and currently sits on top of the Billboard 200 chart. It’s more than just a hit album; it’s a dense, thought provoking body of work that touches on complicated topics like fame, depression, and most importantly, race in modern America. So it’s no wonder fans and critics alike have been endlessly discussing and dissecting the album. But there’s one person who doesn’t want to discuss TPAB: Kendrick Lamar. That’s why when we caught up with Dot at at Reebok’s Lab in Hollywood, his team didn’t want us to ask about the album at all, citing they’d prefer the music speak for itself. In fact, even as Kendrick mobbed through the streets of L.A. performing on a flatbed truck, he mostly did cuts off “good kid, m.A.A.d. city” and nothing from the new album. But we can’t blame Kendrick for not wanting to discuss the album considering we only had a few minutes to talk and his album deserves a critical breakdown, not a brief chat. So instead we talked to the Compton rapper about how he’s been incorporating a live band into his sets, if Reebok will be dropping some K. Dots soon, and we asked a very tongue-in-cheek question about when his next album might be coming.
