Dee Goodz borrows Jay Z’s “My life is based on sacrifices” line off “Regrets” on the hook for “Moneyville.” You remember Jay Z is known for his conversational flow, and here, it feels like Dee Goodz is having a conversation with himself. You kind of get this picture of a man pacing in the darkness as Goodz relates street trauma and various pressures in front of mournful strings. Goodz shows he’s obviously skilled here as well as unapologetically insecure: “All honest no gimmicks just coming real/ If you ain’t fuckin’ with that, then fuck how you feel.”
