Wiz Khalifa On Leaving A Major Label For The Indie Route [Video]

“We Dem Boyz” rapper Wiz Khalifa recently sat down with VladTV to discuss his decision to leave Warner Bros Music back in 2009 to go the indie route, which turned out to be a great move for the Pittsburgh native. Khalifa was on the label for over two years without dropping an album and was understandably frustrated with the situation. The “Black and Yellow” rapper looked at artist such as Young Jeezy, Three 6 Mafia and Dipset for inspiration, saying they were all able to to do exceptionally well using mixtapes and indie artist strategies, which gave him the confidence to break free from his major label.
