Common: “Nobody’s Smiling” Makes Me Feel New Again [Video]

Common addresses chatter that he worked with Kanye on “Nobody’s Smiling” (iTunes), and reveals that he didn’t collaborate with his fellow Chicago rapper for this project. The “What a World” emcee adds that he might have spoken about wanting to work with ‘Ye, but says that he found a rhythm with famed Chicago producer No I.D. He continues to speak about how passionate he is about the album, and says he feels like a new artist because the project is unlike anything he’s ever put out in the past. When asked if he’s with G.O.O.D. Music, Common says that he’s affiliated with Kanye’s label as family, but is officially signed to No I.D.’s label ARTium, which is a part of Def Jam. The conversation ends with the Chicago rapper speaking about working with Kanye in the future, which he seems hopeful about. He adds that they are friends so it’s not always about them doing music together, but he believes they’ll put something out at some point down the road.
