Ran Reed – Pathethic M.C.s/Doo Doo [Video]

Ran Reed is strong-arming 2017 with the impending release of his new compilation LP, ‘Still Commanding Respect,’ that he’s promoting today with a double-feature video for standout tracks “Pathetic M.C.’s” and “Doo Doo.” As they appear on the project, the songs include guest features—Bumpy Knuckles and DJ Modesty, respectively—but the focus in this clip remains on solely on Reed. And rightfully so, because the tri-state area artist served as the project’s primary beat conductor. Not only did he write the super-gutter bars, but he produced the equally grimy instrumentals for both “Pathetic M.C.’s” and “Doo Doo.” The video is directed by the Last American B-Boy, a multi-talented artist known for his raw approach that typically captures emcees in their element. For Reed, that means holding the camera’s attention while spitting his hard-nosed rhymes. Check out the double feature video, and go support Ran Reed’s long awaited LP, ‘Still Commanding Respect,’ which includes features from Kool G Rap, M.O.P. Bumpy Knuckles, Sadat X, U.G. and many more. The LP is now available through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms, and can be purchased on CD, exclusively through Fifth Element.

Ran Reed feat. U.G. – The Crew [Audio]

With his much-anticipated compilation LP, ‘Still Commanding Respect,’ set to drop at the top of 2017, Ran Reed delivers another punishing single, “The Crew,” featuring a scorching guest verse from U.G., with head-nodding production supplied by Nick Wiz. As fans of Reed already know, he and Wiz go way back—peep their Respect The Architect collaboration—so it’s only fitting they’ve teamed up again here In addition to infusing elements of Das EFX’s classic cut, “Real Hip-Hop,” the true highpoint lies in the chemistry between Reed and his guest feature, U.G. of the Cella Dwellas (who recently dropped his own album, Portals). In addition to dropping their own verses, the two attack the third verse on some bad-guy, tag-team sh*t like a modern-day Harlem Heat (waddup, Booker T?). Once you’re done listening to “The Crew,” be sure to peep Ran’s previous drop, “Gun Boy Interlude” featuring M.O.P. Other features on the album include Bumpy Knuckles, Kool G Rap, Sadat X, D.V. Alias Khryst, Shabaam Sahdeeq, DJ Modesty, LoVel, and more. “The Crew” can now be streamed, and is available as the first instant grat track off the iTunes pre-order for ‘Still Commanding Respect.’ The 20 tack LP is due out January 13th through Reed’s RRM Consulting imprint.

Ran Reed feat. M.O.P. – Gun Boy Interlude [Audio]

Whether he’s spraying bullets or stabbing his enemies in the brain with a No. 2 pencil, Paterson, N.J.’s Ran Reed delivers bar after bar of menacing raps on his latest leak, “Gun Boy Interlude.” Rather than go at it alone, the rapper-producer joined forces with perhaps the only other rappers who could suit a track with a title like this: MOP. The duo of Billy Danze and Lil’ Fame bring their Brownsville-reppin’ bully raps out in full force on “Gun Boy Interlude,” though it’s Reed who maintains his stance as the mean-mugging host. That much is apparent when he threatens his enemies with an end so brutal they’ll have to be identified by their dental records. And if the name isn’t familiar, you should peep his Soundcloud page immediately and get familiar. Or you can track down his compilation, Respect The Architect, which features music he recorded with producer Nick Wiz between ‘92 and ‘98. Either way, you’ll be hearing more from Reed in ‘16. “Gun Boy Interlude” is now available for stream…hit that play button.
