Milo – who told you to think??!!?!?!?! [Album Stream]

Posted on August 12, 2017

Milo drops off his new album, "who told you to think??!!?!?!?!".

"who told you to think??!!?!?!?!" is about boundaries and permissions. the artist creating their own license to ill. What it means to answer a call that never comes. The process of flaw turned idiosyncrasy turned style. That old transmutation spell, the happening as one perfects tricks and in turn masters magic. To set the elenchus upon itself, to begin a poet and end a rapper
agency that is what makes the rapper an exceptional artist, beyond a poet. In years gone rappers once focused on getting free "who told you to think??!!?!?!?!" is a return to form.

We were properly blessed by paula puiupo who created the visual component of the record. The album was recorded at Kenny Segal's crib like all great rap albums. It was mixed and mastered entirely by Daddy Kev at Cosmic Zoo Studios like all great albums. The album was recorded entirely in under 24 hours. Some songs are two years old, some songs were written in that final recording session, all were performed entirely in one take and many were finished on the first pass. The vocal rig Kenny and I dreamed up allowed me to fiddle with effects on my vocal in real time and my voice became instrument. This is how i usually perform live. We thought it would it contribute to creating a feeling of "being there" as place informs so much of rap and too often one hears that common, lamentable refrain "you had to be there." It is our sincere hope you feel present while listening to this album. - RF

Milo – Magician [Audio]

Posted on June 30, 2017

Here's a first taste of Milo's upcoming project, "who told you to think??!!?!?!?!".

Says Milo:

"In June of 2016 I moved into a new crib wit my wife preparing for our baby to come. The novelty of this was fascinating for a month or so. Kenny sends me regular beat shipments when he knows I'm working on an album and this was a standout. I realized I had written no story raps and while this isn't a story rap you see how I'm trynna start it as one. I wanted to retrace what led me to that moment in June of 2016, tho after the initial inquiry I let my mind go free. As I'm want to do :)"

Stream "Magician" below and pre-order the album here, before it drops on August 11.

Westside Gunn & Mil – Riots On Fashion Avenue [EP]

Posted on February 10, 2017

The scene takes place 381 miles away from the epicenter of Hip Hop, New York city. It's in Buffalo that Westside Gunn has learned how to control a mic the 5 borough way. He's always had an attraction for melodious sounds and a ferocious hunger for grimy beats straight out the MPC; completed by a rhyme book directly connected to the streets' concrete. Across the Atlantic, the Effiscienz sound came through the cities' blocks to reach the headphones of the one who has already blessed music from the likes of Apollo Brown or the Alchemist. Already in control of Conway's EP and Mood's LP, Mil takes charge of the productions by adapting to Westside Gunn's rough flow, making it sound like a "film noir" with harrowing sounds. In this dark atmosphere dimly lit by a few strings, the stormy kicks and bass have naturally magnetized the Buffalo rhymer to the groove of this EP stamped with the seal of the Parisian label. Six songs including two in which Mil has completely changed the soundtrack and vocals to transform the originals. Six tracks with two instrumentals, to fully enjoy Mil's music without vocals and wait until the release of his album with Main Flow. A record that, like Riot On Fashion Avenue, will be part of the great hip hop tradition of which Effiscienz carries the flame.

Blu & Fa†e feat. Milo & Open Mike Eagle – Oblivia [Audio]

Posted on September 26, 2016

Blu and Fa†e join forces with Milo and Open Mike Eagle on "Oblivia", the latest single from their forthcoming collabo project "Open Your Optics To Optimism".

On "Open Your Optics to Optimism", LA's Blu and producer Fa†e buckle into a DeLorean, cruising back to a time before time in order that they might gain the knowledge necessary to exude such a genuine optimism. Blu outlines Earth's history and then dives within it, beginning from the abyssal plane of the ocean floor, to the stunning sights of the outer atmosphere, and finally beyond, culminating in a personal transcendence outside both space and time.

Stream "Oblivia" below and pre-order "Open Your Optics to Optimism" on Bandcamp.

Milo – So The Files Don’t Come [Album]

Posted on September 25, 2015

Milo drops off his new project, "So The Files Don't Come". Take a listen below.

"Spring returns; it returns and will go away. And God curved in time repeats himself, and passes, passes with the backbone of the universe on his shoulder. When my temples beat their mournful drum, when that sleep etched on a knife hurts me, there are desires not to move an inch from this poem!" - César Vallejo. Weary Circles.
