MC Lyte Addresses Tyler, The Creator’s Comments About Her [Video]

MC Lyte sat down with VladTV and shared her reaction to Tyler, the Creator’s line from the song “Rella” where he said, “let’s get it poppin’ like MC Lyte around some d*kes.” Lyte seems to be unbothered by the comment, saying people have the right to say whatever they want, but she considers herself to be a respectful person and wouldn’t speak about others that way. She also says she has thick skin from being in the biz for so long and knows she’ll be fine, as she doesn’t let social media or nonsense in general get her upset.

MC Lyte Discusses Working With Common On New Album [Video]

MC Lyte shared details on upcoming projects that she’s got in the works this clip from her exclusive interview with VladTV. Lyte briefly discussed a new and very positive scholarship project that she’s involved with, before sharing details on her new album. Her new work is scheduled to be released on April 18th, and she has tons of collaborations on her project, including Common among other renowned artists.

This is taken from MC Lyte’s upcoming LP, which is set to be released later this year. “Dear John” is a fresh track with a strong urban hip-hop vibe, that will also be featured in Lyte’s upcoming episode of “Being,” which will air on Saturday, September 13, 2014 on Centric, 9pm est / 8c. Immediately after the episode, MC Lyte will participate in a live streamed Q&A for fans and media worldwide who should register at www.mclyte.com to view or participate. “Dear John” is the anthem for #EducateOURMen, which is the signature scholarship initiative of MC Lyte’s Hip Hop Sisters Foundation, which has presented two $100,000 university scholarships during the Soul Train Music Awards Red Carpet Pre-Show each year since the organization’s founding. This year, the foundation will present dozens of scholarships earmarked to send men of color to HBCU’s. Russell Simmons, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Jada Pinkett Smith and Faith Evans are just of the few celebrities who support the foundation’s movement (www.EducateOURMen.info).
