Frank Nitt feat. Illa J – Aye Girl [Video]

On the heels of his critically acclaimed solo effort, 2015’s Frankie Rothstein, Frank Nitt (Frank N Dank, Yancey Boys, J Dilla) has formed a new label, Primo Atto Entertainment, with Milan, Italy based Eritrean producer/engineer Robroy to release a collaborative album, Asphalt Runways. With production duties handled solely by Robroy and the witty wordplay provided by Nitt, (along with a host of premiere MCs, musicians and singers including Terry “Zapp” Troutman, Bishop Lamont, Illa J, OhNo, Guilty Simpson, Botni Applebum, Rhettmatic, Mixtapers, Jay Vernon, Rah Digga, and Kokane), Asphalt Runways is the perfect blend of the ornate and glamorous Milan runways, mixed with the gritty asphalt jungle of Detroit. To wrap it up with a nice bow, Primo Atto Entertainment inked a distribution deal with storied Los Angeles based independent label Delicious Vinyl, responsible for hits from the likes of The Pharcyde, Tone Loc, Brand New Heavies and more.

Frank Nitt – Classic [Video]

The Official Supreme video features cameos from Slim kid tre, Illa J, Phonte, Bishop Lamont, T3, Young RJ, Rhettmatic, King Karnov, Dank, Ma Dukes Pete Rock, & Blu. From a young age, Frank Nitt was quick to absorb the rich musical history of his native Detroit, forming the rap duo Frank N’ Dank in his teens. The group eventually landed worldwide attention & acclaim for their contributions to Dilla’s debut album Welcome 2 Detroit in 2001 and soon after signed to MCA Records. Poised to release their debut full length 48 Hours (entirely produced by Dilla) the album ended up shelved, seemingly indefinitely, due to label politics. It wasn’t until 2013 that the album finally saw a proper official release, garnering critical praise for its irreverent, light-hearted rhymes and unconventional production. After years as a group, Nitt parted ways with Dank to pursue a career as a solo emcee, eventually connecting with prolific LA beatsmith Madlib to release Nittyville, an installment of Madlib’s acclaimed Medicine Show series. Most recently, Nitt released Sunset Blvd., a collaborative full-length with Illa J (younger brother to the late J Dilla) over unreleased Dilla productions and featuring hip hop heavyweights Common, Talib Kweli and members of De La Soul and the Pharcyde. With Frankie Rothstein, his first album on Fat Beats Records which features production from the likes of J Rocc, J Dilla and DJ Rhettmatic, L.A. based, Detroit-bred MC Frank Nitt brings his distinguished, decades-long career full-circle, packing his inimitable style and years of

The Joint Chiefs (Rhettmatic x Frank Nitt) – The Smoke Music EP (2008) [EP]

In honor of keeping a tradition alive of dropping some free music on my birthday (May 10) as a way of saying “Thank You” to anyone that has supported my music & my musical career, I wanted to share this unreleased 2008 project that I did with my good friend, Frank Nitt of Frank N Dank fame. We only made 8 songs with some skits in between & no one has ever heard this EP until now. This was made on saw “raw sh*t” vibe, not giving a f*ck…we even played this EP for a certain “Beat Conducta” while we would hang out at The Do-Over during the summer of 2009, hence the “What’s up to Otis” line in the Intro song. Our unreleased EP would also be the catalyst & sparked the collabo between Frank & Mr. Otis Jackson Jr (“Medicine Show #9: Nittyville). – Rhett (Read his full write-up over at RIK) The Smoke Musik EP by The Joint Chiefs (Rhettmatic x Frank Nitt)
