Lord Jamar: “I’d Pick Arsonal To Battle Against Eminem” [Video]

Lord Jamar spoke with VladTV about the unfortunate fight that broke out between Math Hoffa and Dizaster at KOTD’s BOLA 5 battle event, and also shared his thoughts on the possibility of Eminem stepping back into the ring. Jamar admitted that while he doesn’t think violence should occur in Battle Rap, “it was a damn good punch” that Dizaster threw at Math. With that being said, he thinks that there should be more solid rules in Battle Rap in order to prevent these types of altercations from happening. Regarding the potential return of Eminem, Lord Jamar said that out of all of the battlers who participated in the monumental Total Slaughter event, he would pick Arsonal to go bar-for-bar with Em. Jamar has faith that Eminem would do way better than Joe Budden did, though he doesn’t think that Slim will automatically beat the best Battle Rappers in the sport.

Lord Jamar: “Angie Martinez Jumped From A Sinking Ship” [Video]

Lord Jamar sat down for yet another exclusive interview with VladTV, where he congratulated Angie Martinez on making the switch from Hot 97 to Power 105. While he’s happy for Martinez’s career move and pay raise, he essentially feels Power 105 is just the same as Hot 97. “We’re working for certain corporate entities…I see a lot of people cheering like she went somewhere that’s totally different…like they over there playing golden age hip-hop all day…they playin’ the same bullsh*t that they playin’ at Hot 97.” He then goes on to say that radio has had the same format and people for too long, and that the whole system needs to be revamped.

Lord Jamar & Sadat X Debate Brooklyn Gentrification [Video]

Brand Nubian’s Lord Jamar and Sadat X share their thoughts on Spike Lee and Michael Rapaport’s heated debate about gentrification in Brooklyn. Rapaport said Lee had no right to gripe about gentrification in Brooklyn when he’s living on the Upper East Side. Sadat says he agrees with Spike’s side of the argument, revealing that he’s currently living in Bed Stuy and is seeing the gentrification occur firsthand. He says most of the things he’s seeing are disrespectful, including certain groups knocking on doors to ask about purchasing the building. When the question is brought up about keeping “Bed Stuy Do or Die” intact, Lord Jamar says those are dumb statements. He adds that “evolution only means prescribed change,’ and says that arguing against gentrification is about having pride in the “fabric that’s been established for generations” in the neighborhoods.

Lord Jamar & Sadat X: “Iggy Is The White Replacement For Nicki” [Video]

Brand Nubian members Sadat X & Lord Jamar sat down with VladTV to share their views on Tyler, the Creator and a joke he made at Iggy Azalea’s expense, for which he later apologized. Sadat X says that while he likes a few of Tyler’s songs, his youth is likely the reason his comments can be inappropriate at times, and that if he continues to be in the rap game, eventually he’ll mature. The conversation then turns to the offended party, Iggy Azalea, whom Sadat X says is the industry trying to make a white female rapper popular after Bay Area rapper Kreayshawn fell off the radar. Lord Jamar takes it a step further saying Iggy is the industry’s attempt at replacing Nicki Minaj, a statement with which Sadat X agrees.

Lord Jamar: “50 Cent’s The Last Bully In The Industry” [Video]

Lord Jamar shares his thoughts on the 50 Cent/Slowbucks chain snatching incident at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, and while the Brand Nubian rapper says he doesn’t want anything to get out of hand, he finds the incident to be entertaining. He adds that Fif is “one of the last real bullies in the industry,” adding that it didn’t take but a few words before guys were swarming on Slowbucks. When asked about the G-Unit reunion, Lord Jamar thought it would’ve been cool if 50 Cent could have overcome his beef with Game and appeared on stage with the Cali rapper. He acknowledges that the original G-Unit didn’t include Game, but says when the West Coast rapper joined the crew, “they were at their pinnacle.” Jamar also believes that the crew’s new single, “Nah I’m Talkin’ Bout,” is lacking “real love” from the group.

Brand Nubian Breaks Down The Donald Sterling Drama [Video]

Brand Nubian sat down with VladTV to share their opinion on the whole Donald Sterling fiasco, saying they’re not surprised that the elderly owner isn’t giving up his team without a fight. They also condemn Sterling for his views, but aren’t sure that what he did was actually against any rules, as the conversation was intended to be private. “It’s not like he was out on the court with a sign that said ‘I don’t want no black people comin’ here, Magic Johnson keep your ni**a a** out of here…” They also say he’s not the only executive or person of power within the sports industry who feels this way, he’s just the first to get caught.
