Termanology feat. Michael Christmas & Astro – I’m Good [Stream]

Today, Term lets loose the latest offering, “I’m Good,” f/ Michael Christmas & Astro (cuts by Statik Selektah) from Shut Up And Rap. Can you move the crowd? You either can, or you can’t… No gimmicks, no glamour and no glitz, no kickstarters–just Shut Up And Rap! That’s exactly what Termanology is doing on his new album which will be released on 12-9-14—letting his music do the talking. Shut Up And Rap boasts sixteen-tracks and features guest appearances from the legendary INS Deck, M.O.P.’s Lil Fame, Skyzoo, Torae, Slaine, Willie The Kid, DJ Doo Wop and REKS. Newcomer Billy Loman supplies the majority of the soundscape for Shut Up And Rap, and while the album does include big-name collaborations, Term comments on the subtle, but noticeable shift in how he put Shut Up And Rap together “a big part of this album is breaking new talent. Their were times in the past I was focused on getting the biggest names on my albums, but this one was less about status and more about dudes who can just plain spit; regardless of their status.”

Quick 5 w/ Astro Kid [Video]

Astro was recently in New York so we had him stop by our offices for a few, and he fielded a few questions for our Quick5 series. Most of know Astro as that rapper kid from the T.V. show “X-Factor,” but Astro is looking to move on from “X-Factor” references and keep the past in the past. Astro said, “I don’t really focus on that, I don’t even be thinking ’bout that show. That’s how I’ma refer to it from now on, ‘that show.’” The rising rapper also spoke on his preference for Vans shoes and his fashion sense, his last collaboration which he says is with a r’n’b artist out of Brooklyn, and more.

Astro – I Don’t Know [Stream x Download]

Oft imitated but never equaled, the DJBooth Freestyle Series ran from February 2009 through June 2011. Its 250 total entries were the work of a veritable who’s-who of underground and emerging emcees, including rising stars like Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller. Now, it’s back for a second round. The seventh entry in the recently-relaunched series comes courtesy of Astro, the Brooklyn wunderkind who brought us Yes I Know My G back in December. On I Don’t Know, an understated synth instrumental by Oris Beats accompanies the emcee as he showcases his mic skills in brisk, braggadocious bars. Astro doesn’t currently have any forthcoming projects on the agenda, but we’ll keep you posted on his 2014 plans as further details emerge.
