Royce Da 5’9″ On Writing Process, Kendrick, Drake, Dr. Dre, Puff, Colaborating With Boogie & More [Video]

Here’s part 3 of Royce Da 5’9’s interview with Hard Knock TV’s Nick Huff Barili.

Part 3 of the conversation starts with Royce explaining the difference in his writing process for a PRhyme album vs new solo album. Royce goes on to share details of what his writing process is like when he writes for other artists like Puff Daddy and Dr Dre. Royce says that ghostwriting isn’t taboo any more but that rappers who have other people write for them shouldn’t be in contention for best lyricist. They can be up for other things like best artist or what not but that if Kendrick writes all his own verses and Drake doesn’t then it wouldn’t be fair to Kendrick. Royce states that he is in no way taking shots at Drake and that he loves Drake and thinks he is a great artist. The interview continues, with Royce talking about Boogie and how they came to collaborate on the new song called Dumb. Royce also shares how conversations with his son made the album and shares advice for his son who is a singer as well as any young artists looking to succeed in the game.
