Banks & Steelz (RZA & Paul Banks ) Talk Wu-Tang, Collaborating, Concept Of New Album, Nick Cave & More [Video]

Banks and Steelz – a musical collaboration between Wu Tang Clan’s RZA and Interpol’s Paul Banks sat down with Hard Knock Tv’s Nick Huff Barili for an in-depth interview. In part 3 of the conversation RZA and Paul talk about new generation moving away from only listening to set genres because now we have a broader variety of taste. Will there be a “rock” station or a “hip hop” station in the future? or will we move away from that? Rza shares that Paul encouraged him to play the guitar and sing more which has allowed RZA to be even more free as an artist. “Music is about the expression of Freedom” says RZA. It was that freedom which allowed RZA to tell Wu-Tang members that it was time to yell on their records. “I knew that it was time to yell. I knew it. When I did Wu-Tang Clan Aint Nothing Ta Fuck Wit, I was telling everyone fuck that, its time to yell on these mother fuckers….smoothness was still strong in hip hop but I knew it was time to say fuck that!” You will have to watch the video for the rest of the interview including RZA and Paul talking about their admiration for Nick Cave. RZA shares: “He said something profound to me, he said that life is a series of memories. And sense its that for him, he writes everyday. Because it aint just a series of memories that he is living, when he writes it, he leaves that memory for somebody else to enjoy.”
