DJ Rude One has been a fixture in Chicago’s Hip Hop scene since the indie renaissance of the early 2000’s. As part of the production duo Single Minded Pros Rude released From Now On in 2004. The LP featured reigning emcees of the time such as Kool G Rap, Pacewon, JUICE, Mr. Lif, and more. While S.M.P. went on hiatus in the years since, Rude continued to contribute to Chicago Hip Hop through DJing parties at storied clubs such as The Note, Lava Lounge, and Dark Room. Revered by every generation of Chicago Hip Hop, Rude is feeling creative again on the production side and quietly put together a new LP ONEderful. This new documentary shows the creation of the LP’s 1st single, “Mr. Goodbar” featuring NYC spitter, Your Old Droog.

Paul Wall On Travi$ Scott And The Houston Rap Scene [Video]

Houston has produced some of the best rappers in the history of the genre. Z-Ro, Bun B, and Scarface are just a few of the old heads still holding it down for H-Town, but the city’s rap scene has been riding a new wave recently and, in Paul Wall’s opinion, has “never been healthier.” “There’s a fan base to support all the different branches of the hip hop tree that have been growing out of Houston,” Wall proudly explained, “whereas in the past, it might just be the typical Houston sound of music.” Wall stated his belief that BeatKing will be the next artist out of Houston to blow up before gushing about Travi$ Scott, praising him for staying true to his Houston roots while crafting a whole new sound for himself. KXNG Crooked: “There’s A Lack Of Honesty In Hip-Hop Right Now” [Video]

These days, a rapper cannot make a comment about another one without receiving backlash for it. With that being said, the lyrical KXNG Crooked visited VladTV to share his disappointments with the game, and according to him, “there’s a lack of honesty in hip-hop right now.” After calling Fetty Wap “horrible,” KXNG Crooked’s brothers added to their comments with us and said Fetty “will never come off as legendary” – and Crooked agrees, to an extent. “I may not like the Fetty Wap song, but I can still respect that’s it a successful thing and I can say salute to him because he’s living his dream…,” he states. “I personally don’t f*** with that.
