Statik Selektah – Harley’s Blues [Video]

Statik Selektah, and his bride-to-be, Fran, recently had their first baby girl (Harley Emma Baril) and they have been inspired to call attention to HG (hyperemesis gravidarum), a disease that affects the pregnancy process for 2% of women worldwide and one that his fiancé Fran suffered with during the pregnancy of their daughter. The disease is extremely serious and can cause birth defects, as well as be life threatening to both mother and child. To raise awareness of this disease that often goes mis-diagnosed, due to similarities with morning sickness, Statik has created a video with his fiancé, encouraging more women and families to be aware and get tested if they suspect there is something wrong. Statik & Fran are excited to share that they have a beautiful, healthy baby girl, because they were able to treat this disease early in the pregnancy. The background instrumental for a portion of this video was created using Harley Baril’s heartbeat from inside the womb. The song is featured on Statik Selektah’s latest album, “Lucky 7”, out now.

The same can be said when Watercolor Werewolf’s Scoop Deville produces a song. “I believe that every song is inspired by a classic in one way or another” the Grammy nominated producer proclaims. Scoop produced this 7 song concoction while working on the Watercolor Werewolf debut album “Tides.” “The WW philosophy is to craft artisanal vibes in the spirit of classic new wave art using time-honored techniques to create a fresh perspective” WW partner Michael Sterling Eaton explains. “It was important for us to share some of the origins and genres that created the eclectic Watercolor Werewolf sound” Scoop says. The mix is equal parts rock, pop and dance, a taste sweet enough to be called the New Old Fashion. “Its a turn up on the rocks with a cherry on top” Deville exclaims. Cheers!
