Kurupt: “Rap Is Not About a Coast; It’s About Making Good Music” [Video]

Kurupt’s classic lyricism has been etched into many classic Hip-Hop tracks, and the Golden Era giant chopped it up with VladTV concerning his recent release, ‘Kurupt’s Moon Rocks,’ and what he thinks about the current state of Hip-Hop. The “What Would You Do” wordsmith went on to discuss the perceived rise and fall of the West Coast, saying that the transition has allowed different artists the opportunity to come to the forefront. He contends, “The difference is that it’s new music and new talent. So, you know, it changes; you know what I’m saying. I think it’s hard for people to accept that change, but it’s all good.” He soon expounds upon that thought and offers, “Music isn’t about a coast; music is about who puts out a good project. And that’s the problem…It’s not about the coast; it’s about the music, man. And I think that’s where we get lost at…It’s about how Hip-Hop is the number one form of music, today.” Check out the full clip and see if you agree with Kurupt’s stance on how he views good music.
