Vic Spencer – CPS Lunch [Stream x Download]

“I know n*ggas is talking like, they don’t bump what I spit. Man, I love that shit!” Vic Spencer is back. Since dropping the stellar “The Cost of Victory” in January, Vic has been working diligently on various projects. He takes a break for “CPS Lunch”, a reflect of how him and his peers stood in a Chicago Public School lunch line freestyling raps and cracking jokes. “CPS food was nasty, but we ate because we didn’t have shit at the crib. When I did have money, I brought stuff like pizza and chicken tenders which was what the kids with money ate everyday. They had options. I didn’t have those options everyday. Also it was a time for me and my friends to bond more, and til this day, I’m still friends with the people I stood in the lunch line with”, says Vic respectfully. Produced by V.I’s in-house engineer/producer and the GrindHouse God Doc da Mindbenda, CPS Lunch is packed with truth, wit and shots being thrown at promoters who wants Spencer to do free shows and how rappers be lying to their fans. The line that stood out the most was: “Y’all ain’t seen shit from a angry black/I told DC to buy me if they bring slavery back” Wow. DC is another one of Vic’s in-house producer/engineer and is behind the mixing and mastering of all of Vic’s albums. He happens to be white. That’s a crazy line right there. That should be enough for you

Sheek Louch: “The LOX Is Underground But Still Mainstream” [Video]

“Shout out to EPMD, period. As a whole, if you love Hip-Hop, you know what it is already with EPMD,” Sheek Louch tells VladTV. We caught up with the “Mighty D-Block” lyricist while on the set of him and Erick Sermon’s track “Make Room” alongside Joell Ortiz, and he certainly took advantage of the opportunity to work with one of rap’s finest wordsmiths. As the clip moves along, Sheek reflects back on The L.O.X. benefiting from being in the “right spot at the right time,” and how although they’ve worked with R&B and Hip-Hop’s elite, he considers his group to be “underground but still mainstream.” Watch the video to learn how “The Bomb Squad” came about, and how Mary J. Blige – who was a new artist and touring at the time – took their music on the road with her and played it for Diddy. “‘Yo, I gotta meet these dudes, man,’” was Diddy’s reply. As Sheek says, the rest is history. Press play for more.

Joell Ortiz: “Eminem Is One Of The Greats & Possibly The King” [Video]

When we sat down with Nore recently, the rapper stated that Eminem is the “Hip-Hop Elvis,” resulting in a bunch of back and forth banter in the comments section as the “King of Hip-Hop” debate continued. In this clip, Joell Ortiz jumps in on the conversation to inform the public how he feels about Eminem’s place in the game, and while he didn’t outright say it, the Slaughterhouse lyricist says he agrees that Slim Shady is “one of the greats and possibly the King.” “That list can go [on] forever, bro,” he later added. Joell also believes that “there’s a place for all of the records” in response to Crooked I’s tweet about there not being any “real n***** on the mic” these days. “I get it, but I do shows and the kids are out,” he tells us. And while he does admit to getting down with the times and shows love to newer artists, Ortiz feels that there has to be a better balance so fans don’t have to weed through it all to find “the raw” — he even makes sure to play what Rap fans would call real Hip-Hop for his youngest son so he can have that balance, although at 12 years old he’d (understandably) rather listen to what’s hot right now. Catch it all from Joell Ortiz himself in this exclusive clip. “Make Room,” Erick Sermon’s latest single featuring Joell and Sheek Louch, is now available on iTunes
