Boaz says the comparisons to the hip-hop giant are humbling and he plans to keep working hard to prove the comparisons to be true. Boaz also talks about his single “How We Law” with Junior Reid and the making of the video. Boaz says while shooting the movie-like video in Kingston, Jamaica, he was able to see poverty in a whole other way. The Bronx native says that back in the day the sound system was the first signifier of how great a DJ truly was, and Caz says the systems were extremely pricey. Instead of getting everything on a flash drive, Caz explains that records were additional form of rating a DJ, because the albums were more exclusive than today. He adds that some DJs would even wash out the labels or put tape over them to keep up with the exclusivity of their records.
