Yelawolf: “Mac Miller & Macklemore Aren’t Really Indie Anymore” [Video]

Shady Records signee Yelawolf spoke on the success of independent artists who do not have the backing of major industry labels. The “Pop the Trunk” rapper, says that many of these artists we consider “indie” are operating as major labels and shouldn’t be considered indie once they’ve crossed over into the mainstream. Mac Miller and Macklemore were two examples brought up as artists who are known as “indie” which according to Yelawolf simply “sounds sexy,” but isn’t indicative of the kind of work their labels put in.
