Raury – God’s Whisper (Live In New York) [Video]

Last night, fast-rising Atlanta singer, rapper, and all around creative Raury performed his debut show in New York, presented by Pigeons & Planes and Love Renaissance. Any artist’s first NYC show is a big moment, but Raury’s came off the back of a an especially exciting month in which he dropped his debut project Indigo Child, announced signing a deal with Columbia Records, freestyled over Outkast’s “Elevators” on Sway in the Morning, and featured on songs with SBTRKT and The Neighbourhood. The show, which went down in The Studio at Webster Hall, was packed, with an interesting mix of music industry people and Raury’s core fans, his “indigos”—young, fashionable, creative people who know all the words to all his songs. Alongside music from Indigo Child, Raury performed three covers which seem to reflect who he is as an artist, and the kind of impact the wants to have on people. He covered Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit Of Happiness,” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” as part of his ten song set. Watch Raury perform his final song of the night, “God’s Whisper,” and then lead fans to an ice cream shop around the corner where he gave out free ice cream.
