For the 20 years that VIBE has been in publication, we have brought our reader a plethora of outstanding artists and have watched many rise to superstardom. Hailing from the same streets as his Odd Future counterparts, Inglewood, California -bred rapper Casey Veggies is a promising act who’s created his own brand and buzz since dropping his debut mixtape at the age of thirteen. So far, 20-year-old Veggies has released four mixtapes — three of which come from his Customized Greatly volume. His latest, Life Changes, was released in January of this year. When asked how it feels to have his name brought up with other emerging West Coast rappers such as TDE’s Schoolboy Q and OFWGKTA’s Tyler, the Creator, Veggies says, “It feels great just to have my name involved in the circle. When people talk about the new artists coming form the West, people decide to say my name. I don’t say none of that, I just make the best music I can make.” He adds, “It’s a super creative time right now. Everybody’s working hard, everybody’s trying to make the best music, it’s just a real good time.” Rapper Casey Veggies performed for an intimate crowd at Sonos Studios in Los Angeles in celebration of Vibe’s 20th anniversary.
