Torch of Triple C’s Speaks On His Solo Career, Gunplay’s Def Jam Deal & Meeting Rick Ross [Video]

Torch of Triple C’s, makes it clear that being perceived as a “new” member of Maybach Music Group is more of a compliment than it is an insult. “Sometimes I look at it as a compliment. Cause I take it like, my music done made that many strides forward. I done lost weight (and) I done did everything that much that to these people I’m like somebody brand new — I look at it as a gift and a curse.” Torch speaks on Gunplay’s Def Jam Deal and how it motivates him to continue working hard as a Solo artist. “Now, everybody looking at Gunplay like he just got nice! He just got his solo deal, and I look at that as something that motivates me. Now that I see that they starting to pay attention. — It’s only a matter of time before they really understand that (Rick) Ross been knew. He been knew what he had, y’all couldn’t see it.” The Bronx native dates back to 2005, and elaborates on how Rick Ross signed him after an over-the-phone freestyle his sister set up. “My sister used to always seem writing. She actually seen a sign that says, ‘Looking for Artists’. She called and it’s Rick Ross, but at this time he’s going by the name of Teflon Don. — I spit something for him. All of a sudden he wanted to meet up.” Torch explains Rick Ross’ on going feud with 50 Cent, and how it may have disrupted the platform for the first Triple C’s album. “There was a lot of situations that was distracting from the music it’s self. — As individuals, People didn’t even know I was from the Bronx. It’s like right now they are starting to realize the separate entities. — Now, people are collectively starting to respect each individual within the group (Triple C’s).”
